Madhya Pradesh, nestled in the heart of Incredible India, beckons with a symphony of vibrant landscapes, ancient wonders and cultural marvels. From the legendary temples of Khajuraho to the majestic jungles of Bandhavgarh, it is a destination where every corner tells a story, and every moment is an incredible revelation.
Madhya Pradesh Reimagines Tourism Through Technology

As the world marks World Tourism Day 2026 around the theme of “Digital Agenda and Artificial Intelligence to Redesign Tourism,” Madhya Pradesh is exploring how technology can make travel more personalised, accessible and immersive. From AI-assisted destination discovery and customised itineraries to online ticketing, chatbots and GIS-based mapping, digital tools are increasingly becoming part of the visitor journey. The state is also exploring AR/VR experiences, AI-enabled storytelling and virtual tours that can bring heritage sites such as Sanchi and Khajuraho closer to new audiences. The approach reflects a broader shift in tourism – where technology can help travellers discover places more easily while adding new ways to understand their history and culture.
Madhya Pradesh’s Heritage Footprint Grows with Four New UNESCO List Additions

Madhya Pradesh’s rich heritage continues to gain wider recognition, with four remarkable sites added to India’s UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List — the Bagh Cave Paintings, Ginnorgarh Fort, the Group of Temples of the Chambal Valley (Bateshwar, Padavali and Kakarmath), and the Udaigiri Caves. The additions spotlight the state’s exceptional architectural, artistic and cultural legacy while bringing new destinations into focus for heritage travellers.
The development comes as Madhya Pradesh expands its tourism vision across heritage, religious and medical tourism. Together, these efforts strengthen Madhya Pradesh’s position as a diverse tourism destination, connecting its heritage and spiritual wealth with new opportunities for investment, visitor experiences and local economic activity.
Look Up: Madhya Pradesh’s Villages Turn Towards the Stars

Madhya Pradesh is taking rural tourism beyond the usual daytime experience with a new Astro Village Development Project. Six villages—Gyanpura in Dhar, Dhusawani in Chhindwara, Banja in Betul, Dhaba in Narmadapuram, Richhkudi in Damoh and Rancha in Umaria—are being developed as destinations for dark-sky experiences and stargazing. Selected for their relatively low levels of light pollution, the villages will feature stargazing platforms, observation areas, telescopes, binoculars and astrophotography equipment, along with interpretation centres that introduce visitors to astronomy and the night sky. The initiative brings together science, nature and rural tourism, while creating opportunities for local communities and young people to participate in a new tourism experience.
A More Connected Madhya Pradesh: Strengthening Road and Air Links for Tourism

Madhya Pradesh is strengthening its tourism connectivity across road and air, making it easier for travellers to move between its cities and diverse destinations. The launch of the Mukhyamantri Sugam Parivahan Seva on September 25 marks a significant step in this direction, with 351 intercity and intracity buses introduced across Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Rewa, Dewas, Katni and Bhindin the first phase. The service is designed to improve safe, modern and accessible public transport while strengthening links between urban centres and surrounding regions.
Complementing this road network is the PM Shri Heli Paryatan Seva, which is opening up faster aerial access to some of Madhya Pradesh’s key tourism destinations. Its three major tourism sectors connect distinct experiences across the state — Indore–Ujjain–Omkareshwarfor spiritual tourism, Bhopal–Chanderi–Orchha for heritage and cultural experiences, and Jabalpur–Bandhavgarh–Kanha–Maihar–Chitrakoot linking wildlife, nature and important religious destinations. By making more destinations accessible and reducing travel time, Madhya Pradesh is strengthening the foundations for wider tourism growth and opening new possibilities for travellers and the tourism economy.

From Dubai-Style Safaris to Skydiving, MP ReimaginesAdventure Tourism

Madhya Pradesh is expanding its tourism appeal for younger travellers by bringing adventure, entertainment and offbeat experiences into its destination portfolio. Speaking to The New Indian Express, Tourism Secretary Dr. Ilayaraja T. highlighted initiatives ranging from skydiving in Ujjain and off-roading in the Chambal ravines to dinosaur-themed experiences and emerging rural destinations. Among the new experiences being explored is a Chambal Ravine Safari, inspired by Dubai’s desert safari model, with four-wheel-drive vehicles taking visitors through the distinctive ravine landscape.
The proposed experience could combine guided safaris, ravine biking, trekking, adventure camping, local cuisine and folk performances, with overnight stays in tents or glamping units. The state is also exploring live concerts, AI-led promotion and social media to connect with Gen Z travellers, alongside newer experiences in Tamia, Orchha and Mandu. These initiatives add new dimensions to Madhya Pradesh’s established strengths in wildlife, heritage and spirituality, creating more experiential ways to discover the state.
Beyond Tigers and Temples: MP Puts Diversity at the Heart of Tourism

At the TNIE Tourism Summit in Chennai, Tourism Secretary Dr. Ilayaraja T. presented Madhya Pradesh as a destination where heritage, wildlife, spirituality, culture, adventure and responsible tourism come together. From Sanchi and Bhimbetka to Bhedaghat, Orchha, Mandu and Gwalior, the state’s destinations offer distinctly different ways to experience its history and landscapes. With the state’s wildlife sanctuaries reopening for visitors from October 1, 2026, the upcoming tourism season also brings renewed opportunities to explore its forests and wildlife. Alongside its identity as the country’s “Tiger State,” Madhya Pradesh is expanding its tourism proposition through homestays, helicopter tourism, film tourism and regional cuisine. The emphasis on cleanliness and visitor infrastructure further reflects the state’s focus on creating destinations that are diverse, comfortable and sustainable for travellers.
